Nafisa Lawal Idris

I am a dedicated Data Scientist with over three years of experience in Software-as-a-Service, FinTech, IT Solutions and EdTech. I have led diverse teams and hold a Bachelor's degree in Statistics from Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria and a Postgraduate Diploma in Management from the Nigeria Defence Academy. I am from Tureta LGA Sokoto State in Northern Nigeria, I am a passionate advocate for diversity and inclusion in the technology sector. My commitment to mentorship and thought leadership is evident through my involvement with numerous initiatives. I have served as a mentor with ADPList, KaggleX, She Connect Africa, Google Women Techmakers Ilorin, Black Girls in Tech, VC4A, Women in Tech - Global Movement, Women in Tech® Nigeria, FlexiSAF Edusoft Limited and Women in Data Science (WiDS). I am a Global Ambassador at WomenTech Network, Women in Data Science (WiDS) Worldwide, a Consultant/Advisor at FATE Foundation and an Advisory Board Member at Spendo Technologies. I am honoured to be recognised among the She Leads Africa Top 50 Rising Motherland Moguls of 2024. I actively contribute to Blockchain open-source projects and advocate for gender diversity in tech, focusing on empowering women in underrepresented regions. I am a Professional Member of the Professional Statisticians Society of Nigeria (PSSN), a Member of ForbesBLK, a Member of Black in AI and a Certified member of the Chartered Institute of Statisticians of Nigeria (CISON).
